The Sheridan High School, Class of 1973 held their thirty year reunion on August 8, 9, & 10, 2003. This class was the first class to graduate from the high school building located on west Oxford Avenue in Sheridan. The reunion was a success with thirty-four class members attending the activities. That was the same number that attended the twenty year reunion. There were five classmates that attended this year's reunion that did not attend ten years ago. Karen (Dolan) McCarthy came from Pennsylvania and Dan Bunnell came from California.
The activities started with a Friday evening mixer that was held at the Verle Huffman VFW Post 9644 on west Hampden Avenue in Sheridan. There were surprises as some people unexpectedly showed up and were unrecognized by some of their classmates. Attending all of the activities was Coach Art Wollenweber. Mr. Wollenweber was a physical education teacher and Assistant Principal at Sheridan High School for thirty-three years before retiring in 1989.
Also attending the mixer was new Sheridan School District Superintendent Michael Poore and his wife. Mr. Poore spoke about some of his goals for the district, walking in the district and meeting residents. He is interested in bringing back some of the old high school traditions. In particular he was interested in the formation of an alumni association. He invited class members and alumni to the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 10, 2003.

The dinner and dance was held on Saturday also at the VFW. The reunion committee met at noon to decorate the VFW hall for the dinner and dance. The dinner was catered by Westwood Catering and served at 7:00 pm with several class members giving the caterer rave reviews on the good food. DJ entertainment was provided by Conrad Hall a Sheridan High School graduate from the class of 2000. Also assisting at the dinner signing guests in was Patty Gordon from the class of 1977 and Tyler Gordon from the class of 2004. The reunion cake was a gift to the class from the high school.

A picnic was held on Sunday at the shelter next to the high school. Because of a snafu the Class of 1983 had also scheduled their picnic at the same time and place. Rhonda (Grein) Schaffer and Susan (McKinley) Tarbell from the Class of 1983 and Roger Rowland from the Class of 73 got together to discuss the problem. After some discussion arrangements were made to share the barbeque pit and the Class of 1983 set up east of the shelter. Mr. Greg Gotchey, the new principal of Sheridan High School attended the picnic. With his assistance additional tables were obtained from the high school to help accommodate both classes.
The Class of 1983 wanted to tour the high school but had been unable to arrange a tour. As luck would have it, a tour had been arranged for the Class of 1973. Both classes combined for the tour given by Mr. Gotchey. Significant remodeling had occurred in the high school since both classes had graduated. A new music wing had been added, walls had been added in the open space area of the second floor, and there was a new wood floor in the gymnasium. When the school was first built a synthetic floor had been installed.
The reunion book with histories and pictures will ready by the end of October. History forms and pictures will be accepted through the end of September. A blank history form and reservation form are available and can be downloaded in a PDF file format. The reservation form can still be used to order a reunion book or CD.
